Happy Birthday Eli!

I am way behind in posting about Eli's 4th Birthday!  I still cannot believe our sweet little boy is now four years old!  He has such a unique personality and has a tremendous presence in our family.  As he finished praying the night of his birthday dinner I looked around the room and almost every adult was emotional.

Dear Eli,
You have taught us so much in the past several months.  You are a wonderful brother to Knox and Briggs.  You are certainly still Knox's hero.  You are rarely frustrated with him and would pick his company over any other playmate.  You show Briggs a good deal of affection, but seem less sure of what to make of him.  You are very impressed with his recent giggles and slight interactions.  You are a very social child and have many friends.  You are burdened for others and I think you get this trait mostly from your Daddy.  Your strong personality appears in random circumstances and I think it is safe to say that this trait likely comes from me.

You have taught us a lot in the last several months.  We have never heard a child approach God with such fervency and determination.  You speak to Him as if He is your friend and you have known Him for a very long time.  You remind God in your prayers that he is a good God and you are his good little boy.  You pray for the children in Bihar, India before every meal and as you say your prayers at night.  Our prayer is that one day you will know Christ as your Savior and continue to desire such a close relationwhip with Him.

You have somehow evolved from a Duke fan to a Carolina fan.  I am sure your Daddy, Uncle Evan and Paas will try to convince you that light blue is not the color of choice, but for now I am enjoying your enthusiasm for the Tar Heels.  Your Daddy is your best buddy and you look forward to spending time with him every day.  You savor time alone with either of us and we are trying hard to make sure this happens in our busy days.  We are having so much fun with you and your brothers.  You have certainly been a blessing to our family.  We are so proud of you and look forward to the upcoming years of watching you grow!

Love,
Mommy
